Florian G. has extensive experience in various roles within the engineering and space industries. Florian started their career as a PhD candidate at ESA/ESTEC, where they successfully developed and optimized an innovative casting process for aluminum alloys. Florian also established a failure criterion for predicting fracture modes of periodic cellular structures.
Florian then joined the Swiss Space Center, where they worked as a Materials Specialist and Scientific Advisor. In this role, they represented Switzerland for materials-related tasks at ESA and promoted new R&D activities. Florian also managed an ESA frame contract activity on metal foam characterization and led various student projects at the master's level.
After their time at the Swiss Space Center, Florian became the Head of Process - Metallurgist at Constellium. Florian managed a team responsible for developing new products and maintaining high-quality standards in aerospace, military, and transportation products. Florian also programmed a 3D mapping tool for metal plate flatness inspection and optimization.
Florian then moved to Swisspod Technologies, where they served as the Head of Systems engineering. Florian collaborated with a multicultural and multidisciplinary team of engineers, defining work packages and requirements for subsystems development. Florian was an active member of European Commission working groups for standardization and regulations of Hyperloop technologies.
Most recently, Florian joined Aerospacelab as a Mechanical Engineering Project Manager. Further details about their role and responsibilities in this position were not provided.
Florian G. has a diverse education history. Starting in 2005, they attended Lycée du Parc, where they studied Mathematics and Physics. Florian then pursued their Bachelor's degree in Materials Science at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2007 to 2010. In 2009, they also completed a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science at Politecnico di Milano. Florian continued their education at EPFL and obtained a Master's degree in Materials Science from 2010 to 2012. Florian further pursued their education at EPFL and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Science des matériaux from 2013 to 2018. Recently, in 2020 and 2021, Florian attended MIT xPRO and obtained a degree in Architecture and Systems Engineering, focusing on Systems Engineering.
