Jason O.

Jason O. has extensive experience in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Jason is currently the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at SXSW and has been in this role since March 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Principal Consultant at The Bond Educational Group starting from December 2015. Jason also worked as the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at Arlington Public Schools from August 2021 to March 2023. Jason has held various positions in academic institutions, including Assistant Professor at Kennesaw State University from September 2020 to September 2021, Director of The Institute on Equity and Justice at American University from August 2018 to August 2020, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Manager at West Virginia University from August 2013 to July 2018. Earlier in their career, Jason served as the School Principal at Clinton Christian School from August 2010 to July 2013 and as a High School English Teacher at Hayfield Secondary School from August 2006 to July 2010.

Jason O. has a strong educational background in the field of education and leadership. Jason holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Higher Education with a focus on Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from West Virginia University. Prior to their doctoral studies, Jason earned a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Special Education and Teaching from George Mason University. Jason also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English Language and Literature from West Virginia University. In addition to their formal education, Jason has obtained a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in March 2022.
