Kristina Rinker has a long and varied career in biomedical engineering, research, and entrepreneurship. Kristina began their career in 1998 as a Research Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University. In 2000, they moved to Colorado State University, where they worked as an Assistant Professor. In 2005, they joined the University of Calgary, where they were a Professor, Lead of the Early Cancer Detection Initiative, and Director of the Centre for Bioengineering Research and Education. In 2012, they became an Executive Committee Member of the International Society of Applied Cardiovascular Biology. In 2014, they founded Syantra Inc., a precision healthcare company with a blood test for detection of breast cancer. In 2017, they became a Lab Scientist at Creative Destruction Lab and Co-Founder, President and CEO of KRS Biopharma Inc. In 2020, they founded BiohubX and became a Board Member.
Kristina Rinker obtained a BS in Chemical Engineering from The University of Alabama between 1987 and 1992. Kristina then went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from North Carolina State University, which they completed in 1998. In 2006, they obtained a P.Eng. certification from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.
