Associate Principal Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry Project Team Leader at Sygnature Discovery Limited

Jonathan Shannon has extensive work experience in the field of medicinal chemistry and research. Jonathan began their career at Bayer CropScience as an Industrial Postdoctoral Researcher, where they led a synthetic project and collaborated with chemists, biologists, and biochemists to design and synthesize novel chemical libraries. After this, they joined University College London as a GSK Array Postdoctoral Researcher, working on the investigation of 1,2-diamines in fused heterocyclic synthesis. During this time, they developed methodology for the synthesis of biologically interesting heterocyclic compounds using the nitro-Mannich reaction. Following their research at UCL, they joined Eisai as a Medicinal Chemist, before eventually joining Sygnature Discovery. At Sygnature Discovery, they have held multiple roles, including Senior Scientist, Senior Scientist 2, and currently serves as an Associate Principal Scientist and Medicinal Chemistry Project Team Leader.

Jonathan Shannon received their Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham in 2003. Jonathan continued their education at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry in 2007.
