Dan O'Connell has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2004, they worked as a 3D Modeler at Caterpillar Inc., where they converted vendor models to 2D drawings and designed 3D engines and parts. From 2005 to 2008, they served as an Electrical Designer in the Nuclear division at Sargent & Lundy, designing and specifying electrical and structural systems for nuclear stations.

Dan then joined Teng and Associates in 2008 as an Electrical Designer & Applications Specialist, where they focused on electrical design for government and USACE projects. Dan was responsible for laying out and specifying electrical gear, conduit, tray, and routing. After that, from 2010 to 2011, Dan worked at W.M. Putnam Co. d/b/a Copenhaver, Inc. as a Commercial Designer, creating designs and drafts for interior office spaces using CAPs system and AutoCAD.

In 2011, Dan joined the Syska Hennessy Group as a Telecommunications Designer & BIM Manager (Associate), where they worked on existing and greenfield critical facility, data center, and tenant build-out projects. Dan oversaw the Midwest BIM initiative and maintained company-wide CAD/BIM standards and workflows.

From 2013 to 2014, Dan worked as a Lecturer at Illinois State University. In 2015, they joined TRUSYS as a Telecommunications Designer & BIM Manager, working on data center projects worldwide. Dan was responsible for designing security devices, creating single lines, and coordinating with other disciplines and clients.

In 2016, Dan worked at AE Design, Inc. as a Project Manager, handling education, government, commercial, and healthcare projects. Dan also designed and supported the office's IT and Drafting/Design Standards and trained new employees.

During the same year, from 2016 to 2021, Dan served as a Senior Project Manager at BCER. Dan managed and designed various project types, coordinated with clients, and maintained project budgets and deadlines.

Currently, Dan is working at Symbotic as a Senior Project Manager, responsible for all aspects of projects in the distribution warehouse space. Dan leads planning, sourcing initiatives, and the development of electronic sourcing and supply chain strategies.

Dan O'Connell's education history begins in 2008 when they attended Harold Washington College. Dan pursued an Associate in Arts degree in Architecture and completed their studies in 2010. In 2012, they briefly attended Harrington College of Design but did not obtain a degree in any specific field of study.

Apart from their formal education, O'Connell has also acquired several certifications. In 2011, they became an Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit. The next year, they obtained the LEED AP BD+C certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Most recently, in June 2020, they completed the German Course 101 (Level 1): Beginners at the Centre for Continuing Education.
