Brian Carlson has worked in the tech industry since 1999, beginning as a Software Developer at Gammex, Inc. In the same year, they moved to Opus Healthcare Solutions, where they held the roles of Senior Software Engineer, Software Developer, and Chief Software Architect. In 2010, Brian joined NextGen Healthcare, where they served as Principal Engineer and Chief Software Architect for NG7. Most recently, in 2021, Brian began working as Principal Engineer for Actium Health. Throughout their career, Brian has worked on a variety of projects, including a cloud-native distributed clinical data aggregation platform, a ground-up rewrite of an EMR in a cloud-based, horizontally-scalable infrastructure, and a browser-based AJAX web application. Brian has also maintained and upgraded software products for use in the medical quality assurance industry.
Brian Carlson received their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999. Brian is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. In addition, they hold two Coursera Verified Certificates in Functional Programming Principles in Scala, obtained in November 2014.
