Melih Ozbek

Melih Ozbek is currently the Lead Data Scientist at SymphonyRM. Prior to this, they were a Senior Research Data Scientist at Highmark Health for 8 months, and before that they were with Highmark Inc. for 3 years 6 months, where they held positions such as Data Scientist, Medical Economics Consultant, and Decision Support Analyst.

Ozbek has also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University for 6 years 10 months. During their time there, they worked on improving health claims processing by inspecting provider billing patterns and identifying outliers. Melih also built quantitative solutions by applying statistical and machine learning methods with Python, SQL and SAS within a team consisting of data scientists and actuaries in a health care environment.

Ozbek’s experience with big data analysis tools like Python, SQL, R, and Hive / Hadoop have projectioned annual savings of >$10M. Melih has also combined machine-learning driven insights with RPA automation bots to facilitate processing healthcare data, in order to enable novel member outreach possibilities and optimize labor for about 300 care management nurses.
