Jenny Shu

Jenny Shu has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Jenny is currently working at Synlogic, Inc. as the Senior Director and Head of Biology since April 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Principal Scientist at Cygnal Therapeutics from August 2016 to March 2021. Before that, they worked as a Senior Scientist at Jounce Therapeutics from September 2013 to August 2016.

Jenny also has experience in academia, having worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School from September 2010 to September 2013. During this time, they focused on studying the role of CD8+ T cells in adipose tissue inflammation and systemic insulin resistance. Jenny was supported by the Cancer Immunology Training Grant from NIH.

Additionally, Jenny pursued an internship at Harvard University Office of Technology Development from 2012 to 2013, and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at NKI-AVL from 2008 to 2010. At NKI-AVL, they conducted research on the parallel detection of antigen-specific T-cell responses and analyzed the tumor-reactive CD8+ T cell compartment in melanoma patients.

Jenny's educational background includes being a Graduate student at UCLA from 2002 to 2008, where they focused on cancer immunotherapy and the development of noninvasive molecular imaging techniques for studying anti-tumor T cell responses. Their research during this time resulted in high-profile papers, patents, and the establishment of a start-up company.

Jenny Shu pursued their education starting from 1990 at the National Experimental High School, where they did not obtain a specific degree or field of study. Jenny then attended Georgia Institute of Technology from 1998 to 2002 and completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. Jenny continued their education at UCLA between 2002 and 2008, where they earned their PhD in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics. Later, in 2011, they enrolled in various programs, including the Harvard University Extension School, where they obtained a Master of Liberal Arts degree in Finance. Additionally, Jenny attended the Harvard Graduate Consulting Club Mini-MBA Class, as well as the Healthcare Innovation & Commercialization Class, though no degree or field of study is specified for these programs.
