Clay McDonald has over two decades of experience in the semiconductor industry, currently serving as Principal Engineer and R&D Manager at Synopsys Inc since 2003. In this role, McDonald manages the NanoTime transistor-level static timing analysis R&D team based in Marlboro. Previous positions at Synopsys include establishing a parasitic extraction R&D team in Grenoble and managing the development of a transistor-level equivalence-checker, achieving significant improvements in runtime and accuracy. Prior to Synopsys, McDonald held the position of R&D Manager at InnoLogic Systems, where a symbolic simulation engine was developed, and worked at Hewlett-Packard as a Member of Technical Staff on microprocessor design teams. McDonald holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and both a BS and MS in the same field from Georgia Institute of Technology.
