Karina Halliman

Karina Halliman has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as a Research Associate at Viridos since January 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Laboratory Technician at Viridos from February 2022 to December 2022.

Before joining Viridos, Karina was a Senior Laboratory Assistant at SAN DIEGO COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH LABORATORY from September 2021 to February 2022.

Karina also gained research experience as a Research Scholar at UC San Diego Triton Research & Experential Scholars (TRELS) from January 2021 to June 2021, investigating potential shifts in the distribution of seabird species using survey data.

As a Research Fellow at Scripps Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) from June 2020 to August 2020, Karina researched microplastics-food web pathways and presented their findings at scientific events.

Karina also worked as a Research Intern for the Society for Marine Mammalogy ad hoc Committee on Diversity and Inclusion from October 2019 to May 2020, where they analyzed diversity and inclusion survey data and compiled findings in a research paper.

Karina's other experiences include serving as a Site Leader for UC San Diego Alternative Breaks from September 2019 to May 2020, and working as a Plans Assistant at UC San Diego Environment Health and Safety from July 2019 to March 2020.

Karina Halliman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Systems with a focus on Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution from the University of California San Diego. Karina attended the university from 2016 to 2021. Prior to their undergraduate studies, Karina received their High School Diploma from Littlerock High School from 2012 to 2016. The field of study for their high school education was not specified.
