Tom Castle has a diverse work experience in the polymer industry. Tom started their career at the University of Liverpool and Uniqema Limited, where they worked as an ICI PLC SRF Research Fellow. This role involved technology transfer and researching polymerisation chemistry for personal and home care applications.
Tom then joined Itaconix (U.K.) Ltd (previously known as Revolymer) as a Scientist, developing polymer chemical ingredients and encapsulation systems. Tom later became an R&D Manager/Team Leader & IP Facilitator, leading projects for polymer-based formulations in personal care and coatings.
Tom Castle's most recent role was with Synthomer, where they held various positions. Tom worked as a Corporate Innovation manager, involved in the technical and commercial development of new markets for polymer-based products. Tom also served as a Market Development Manager, contributing to business development in sectors like energy, construction, and home care.
Currently, Tom is working at Synthomer as the Commercial Director Batteries. Tom'sresponsibilities include strategic oversight of the battery business and identifying new business opportunities.
Tom Castle has an educational history in Chemistry. Tom received their BSc (Hons) degree in Chemistry from the University of Kent from 1997 to 2000. Tom then pursued an MSc by Research in Chemistry at the University of Kent from 2000 to 2001. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry at Durham University from 2001 to 2004.
