Ronan O'Riordan

Process Development Scientist II at T-knife

Ronan O'Riordan has a diverse work experience in the field of bioprocessing and protein purification. Ronan started their career as a PhD student at University College Cork, Ireland, where they focused on the function and conservation of a multigene family of secreted placental glycoproteins. Ronan utilized mutagenesis, protein expression systems, and chromatographic purification to generate proteins for functional studies. After completing their PhD in 2013, they worked as a Research Assistant at the same university, further optimizing protein purification processes and investigating the impact of certain glycoproteins on leukocyte migration.

In 2014, Ronan joined Eli Lilly and Company as a Technical Services/Manufacturing Science-Purification Scientist. In this role, they liaised with development scientists and engineers, executed chromatographic viral clearance validation runs, and led technology transfer and qualification of small-scale models of purification unit operations. Later, they took on the role of TS/MS Bioprocess Chemist - Downstream, where they became an online purification subject matter expert, ensuring process control, compliance, and validation through continuous monitoring and data-driven decision-making.

Presently, Ronan is a Process Development Scientist II at T-knife Therapeutics, starting in December 2021.

Ronan O'Riordan completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Genetics at University College Cork from 2003 to 2007. Following this, they pursued further education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry and Immunology from the same university, which they completed between 2008 and 2013.
