Dr. Paul Dietz is a Tactual Technical Fellow with a focus on human-computer interaction. Paul pioneers interfaces that connect users to technology in natural, intuitive ways. His seminal work alongside Tactual VP Physics Research Dr. Darren Leigh on multitouch, the interface for billions of smartphones and tablets, earned Paul and Darren the ACM UIST 2012 Lasting Impact Award. Earlier in his career, as a Disney Imagineer, Paul developed the technology behind location interactive experiences, including Disney’s acclaimed Pal Mickey product. At Microsoft, Paul continued to re-imagine how people seamlessly connect with technology by developing the signature features of the original Microsoft Surface Tablet and SideWinder X4. Paul has been granted more than 50 US patents, with more pending.
