David Serfontein has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. David began their career at Saab Grintek Technologies as a Project Manager, where they worked for over 16 years. David then joined Sinclair Knight Merz, where they took on the roles of Project Controller and Project Engineer for various projects, including the Gold Coast Desalination project. David was also seconded to Queensland Rail Networks, where they served as Acting Network SEQ Corridor Access Manager, responsible for developing a business case for a scheduled corridor access system. Subsequently, they worked at Jacobs, initially being seconded to Energex as a Project Manager before being seconded to Groote Eylandt Mining Company (GEMCO) as a Project Engineer. During their time at Jacobs, they developed and documented Hazardous Area Classifications for military installations. Most recently, they joined TAE Aerospace in 2017 as a Project Manager.
David Serfontein obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Business School at the University of Stellenbosch, completing their studies from 2000 to 2002. Prior to this, they pursued a B.Business Management and Administration with Honours degree from the University of Stellenbosch Business School, from 1998 to 1999. Earlier in their education, between 1976 and 1981, they acquired a B.Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) degree from the University of Stellenbosch. In addition to their formal education, David obtained a certification as a Professional Project Manager from the Project Management Institute in June 2016.
