Stan Shikuma

Stan Shikuma is a taiko performer, composer and percussionist who plays with Seattle Kokon Taiko and directs Kaze Daiko (taiko youth group). Past projects include work on new opera, Butoh dance, and puppet theatre. Stan also writes and lectures on taiko history, teaching, and performance. As a social activist, Stan works with Tsuru for Solidarity, Tule Lake Pilgrimage, Japanese American Citizen League (JACL), Tech Equity Coalition, and Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA).
