Bryan McAlister

Bryan McAlister is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in data engineering and systems development. Currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer at takealot.com since March 2022, Bryan is part of the Data Engineering team. Prior to this role, Bryan led the systems development team at SAEON from March 2019 to February 2022, where Bryan oversaw the delivery of frontend and core services for environmental open data. Bryan's earlier tenure at the Meraka Institute, CSIR included roles as Senior Software Development Engineer, where Bryan led the design and implementation of the National Oceans and Coastal Information Management System from July 2013 to February 2019, as well as as Software Engineer from October 2006 to June 2013, where Bryan developed telephony services supporting all 11 official South African languages. Bryan holds a Master of Engineering in Technology Management, an Honours in Engineering in Computer Engineering, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering, all from the University of Pretoria.
