Maria Shimizu

Art Director at Takram

Maria Shimizu has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in design and art direction. Maria is currently working as an Art Director at Takram since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Designer at TBWA\HAKUHODO from January 2018 to March 2022. Maria also worked as a Designer at quantum from January 2017 to January 2018. In 2016, Maria was selected as a 2016 Design Fellow at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, where they were responsible for designing potential solutions and interfaces for various problems. Maria also participated in the Food + Future coLAB program as a fellow at IDEO and MIT Media Lab in 2016. Maria's earlier work experience includes internships at IDEO, Landor Associates, cocoroé, and Gravis (Burton Snowboards). Maria also has experience as a freelance translator, specializing in Japanese-English translation.

Maria Shimizu attended Yokohama International School from 2010 to 2012, where they completed their high school education and earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma. From 2012 to 2016, they attended the Rhode Island School of Design, where they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Graphic Design. In 2015-2016, they participated in the Brown/RISD Cross Registration program at Brown University.
