Lisa Cannell

Lisa Cannell has worked in the human resources field for over 30 years. Lisa began their career in 1991 as an Assistant Manager, Human Resources at State Farm Insurance. Lisa then assumed roles as a Human Resources Business Analyst, Operations Training Administrator/Human Resources Field Representative, and Senior Underwriter. In 2004, they joined SNL Financial as Director of HR and reported to the CFO and President. In 2006, they moved to StellarOne Bank as Chief Human Capital Officer, where they reported to the CEO and supported the Board of Directors. In 2014, they joined the University of Virginia Darden School of Business as Managing Director, Executive Education & Lifelong Learning and Chief Human Resources Officer. In 2020, they joined TalentGuard as Director, Strategic Advisory Board.

Lisa Cannell has a long history of education and certifications. Lisa received a BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990. Lisa was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society in 1991. In 2014, they obtained a Certificate in Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership from Georgetown University. In 2015, they completed a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. Lisa obtained the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter certification from The Institutes in 1998, and the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI in 1997. In 2016, they obtained the SHRM-Senior Certified Professional certification from SHRM. Most recently, in 2021, they obtained the Foundations of Learning Experience Design certification from NovoEd.
