Cheryl Person

Cheryl Person, MD, MBA has a diverse work experience in the field of psychiatry. Cheryl'smost recent role is as the National Director of Clinical Quality at Talkiatry, starting in April 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Executive Director/Chief Physician at the University of Houston from August 2020 to April 2022, and as the Chief Psychiatrist at the Student Health Center from February 2019 to August 2020.

Before joining the University of Houston, Cheryl worked as the Behavioral Medical Director at Centene Corporation from September 2018 to February 2019, and at UnitedHealth Group from July 2015 to September 2018. Cheryl also held various roles at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), including Director of Global Mental Health from October 2014 to June 2015, and Director of Psychiatric Services at LBJ General Hospital from August 2010 to June 2015. At UTHealth, they also served as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry from August 2010 to June 2015.

Cheryl's earlier experience includes working as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine from July 2006 to July 2010. During this time, they held the role of Director of the 701 Outpatient psychiatry clinic, Chair of the Disaster Psychiatry Committee, and taught longitudinal psychotherapy to third-year psychiatry residents.

Cheryl Person, MD, MBA, has a diverse education history. Cheryl obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from Mills College in 1992. Cheryl then went on to earn their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 2000. Following this, they completed a Residency in Psychiatry at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 2000 to 2004. Cheryl further pursued their education and completed a Fellowship in Psychiatric Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health from 2004 to 2006. Recently, they completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Business at West Texas A&M University College of Business from 2016 to 2019. Additionally, they have obtained the certification of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
