Ian Bannister

Ian Bannister has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Ian began their career in 1994 as a Safari Guide at Central African Wilderness Safaris. Ian then moved on to Airbus UK in 1996, where they served as a Certification Coordinator until 2000. Ian then joined Pilatus as a Certification Coordinator from 2000 to 2004. Ian then worked at Virgin Atlantic as a Cabin Development Manager from 2004 to 2010. In 2011, they transitioned to the role of Technical Project Manager at Virgin Atlantic, where they worked until 2014.

After leaving Virgin Atlantic, Ian took on the position of Manager Fleet Support / Part 21 Head of Airworthiness at Virgin Atlantic in 2014. In this role, they provided support for the Continuing Airworthiness of the fleet and managed a design office team. Ian also undertook special project delivery, including outsourcing Part M to a third party. Ian held this position until 2020 when they briefly served as the Acting Head of Fleet Technical at Virgin Atlantic.

Ian then joined Tamarack Aerospace Group in 2019 as a Director, a role that they currently hold. Lastly, in January 2021, they became the Maintenance Programmes and Reliability Manager / Head of Airworthiness at Virgin Atlantic, responsible for the operational performance and airworthiness management of the VAA fleet.

Overall, Ian Bannister has developed a strong background in aviation, with expertise in areas such as certification, airworthiness management, and technical project management.

Ian Bannister completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Coventry University. Ian pursued their education at the university from 1991 to 1994.
