Location of Position:

This position will be based in our Burnaby, BC office.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a SCRUM Product Owner. Reporting to the Vice President, Product Development, the Business Analyst is a key member of our Agile development team and will play a crucial role in defining and prioritizing product features, gathering requirements, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Ownership: Act as the primary liaison between the development team and stakeholders, defining and prioritizing product features based on business value and customer needs.

  • Requirement Gathering: Collaborate closely with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring a clear understanding of project scope and objectives.

  • Backlog Management: Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that it accurately reflects the most up-to-date requirements and aligns with overall project goals.

  • Release Planning: Participate in release planning sessions, working closely with the Scrum Master and development team to identify sprint goals, deliverables, and timelines.

  • User Story Creation: Write clear and concise user stories, acceptance criteria, and other documentation to effectively communicate requirements to the development team.

  • Requirement Validation: Collaborate with QA analysts to review test cases and ensure that all requirements are adequately covered and tested.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates on project status, gathering feedback, and managing expectations.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the refinement of Agile practices within the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Certification(s) in Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) is highly desirable.

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in an Agile software development environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello) and proficiency in using them to manage backlogs and track project progress.

  • Knowledge of software development processes and methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements.
