Sarah Conklin, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Most recently, they serve as the Scientific Program Manager at D-Prime LLC, where they manage research partnerships, business development, and multiple research projects. Sarah also holds the position of Vice President of Research and Development at Tanzen Medical, Inc., overseeing research activities and participating in the day-to-day development operations.
Prior to their industry roles, Sarah had an extensive career in academia. Sarah was a Tenured Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Allegheny College, where they developed and taught college courses, mentored students, and served on elected college committees. Sarah also held the position of Psychology and Neuroscience Department Head, responsible for the smooth functioning of the department and the neuroscience program. Additionally, they served as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, teaching courses and establishing best practices in health and psychophysiology research.
Sarah's research experience includes a role as a Research Associate at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where they conducted investigations on omega-3 fatty acid levels in human serum and postmortem brain samples. Sarah collaborated with laboratory staff, wrote papers, and presented scientific findings at conferences. Sarah also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, conducting research on the relationship between omega-3 fatty acids, mood, behavior, and brain structure.
Lastly, Sarah had a brief period as a Yoga Studio Owner at Meadville Yoga, where they managed all aspects of the business until it closed in the early stages of the covid pandemic. Sarah taught yoga classes, led workshops, and maintained a strong social media presence.
Sarah Conklin, Ph.D. has an extensive education background. Sarah began their academic journey at PennWest Edinboro from 1996 to 1999, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Communication Arts. Following this, from 2000 to 2002, they attended the University of New Orleans and earned a Master of Science degree in Applied Biopsychology.
Sarah went on to pursue their passion further and completed their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Neuroscience at Baylor University from 2002 to 2005. Their focus during this time was in the field of Neuroscience.
After obtaining their Ph.D., Sarah Conklin engaged in a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh from 2005 to 2007. During this fellowship, they specialized in Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine.
Additionally, Sarah has acquired several certifications to enhance their skills and broaden their knowledge. Sarah became a Certified Yoga Instructor through the Yoga Alliance in September 2015. That same year, in October, they attended the Great Lakes Colleges Association Academic Leadership and Innovation Institute. Moreover, they obtained a certification in UX Research for Agile Teams through LinkedIn in August 2022. Furthermore, they completed the Social and Behavioral Responsible Conduct of Research program offered by the CITI Program in January 2023.
