Gemma Sheldrake has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 2005, they worked as a Sales Assistant at Martin McColl, where they provided customer service and managed store front queries. In 2006, they moved on to Next Retail Ltd, where they continued to provide customer service in high street fashion.

In 2011, Gemma began their own freelance career as an Illustrator, Comic artist, and Designer, showcasing their portfolio and business email on their website petitecreme.com. Their skills included product and graphic design, comic illustration and drafting, webcomic art, concept art design, and social media branding.

Throughout their freelance work, they also held other positions. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a Bookseller Assistant at Waterstones, specializing in graphic novels and young adult books. Gemma Sheldrake attended Bretton Woods Community School from 2000 to 2007. Gemma then pursued a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at New College Stamford from 2007 to 2008. Afterwards, from 2008 to 2011, they obtained a BA in Illustration with a focus on illustration & comics from the University of Gloucestershire. In 2009 to 2010, they also spent a year at St Luc ESA, earning a second BA in Illustration with a specialization in Bandé Dessinée.
