Georgia Cox

Georgia’s expertise lies in the intersection between climate policy, corporate sustainability, international development and commercial transactions. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Environment and Sustainability from Monash University whom she represented at COP25 in Madrid in 2019 championing youth voices.

Most recently Georgia worked amongst business development with South Pole, harnessing a particular focus on mining and industrials clients while understanding the important role policy, regulation and commercial components play in carbon market transactions. Through a previous role held at the Carbon Market Institute (CMI), Georgia was instrumental in bringing the world-leading Australian Carbon Industry Code of Conduct into operation. This included raising best practice standards of engagement with Traditional Owners. Her prior experience has also provided the basis for the formation of the Indo-Pacific Carbon Offsets Scheme (IPCOS) involving Australia, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

Georgia has also conducted research for DFAT, the ABC and Oxfam on climate change communication and disaster risk reporting in the Pacific, on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

With over four years’ experience in climate-related fields she has heard and seen first-hand the impacts of climate change on Pacific communities, and this continues to be a source of motivation to create lasting impact in her work every day.
