Gurkan Papila

Gurkan Papila has a diverse and extensive work experience in various technology-related roles. Gurkan started their career as a System Engineer at Vestel in 1998. Gurkan then joined T-Systems as a Senior Infrastructure Consultant, where they managed and maintained the systems infrastructure for Vestel and Vestel Group companies.

After that, Papila worked at Dogan Online DOL as a Team Leader and Senior System Architect, where they managed web services and designed highly available systems for large-scale internet users.

In 2005, they joined Citi as a Manager of Technology Infrastructure and System Administration, responsible for developing, administering, and troubleshooting technology infrastructure and systems.

Papila joined Turkcell in 2009 and held various roles, including Head of Cloud and Enterprise Infrastructure and Manager of Enterprise Infrastructure & Security. In these roles, they worked on business-IT strategy development, relationship management, and solution discovery. Gurkan also facilitated and led the planning and execution of initiatives to bring cloud services to Turkcell and Superonline Corporate Customers.

In 2017, Papila joined Eczacibasi Toplulugu as an Infrastructure and Technology Services Director, later becoming the CIO and a member of the Digital Transformation Office. From 2020 to 2022, they served as an Executive Board Member and General Manager at Eczacibasi Bilisim.

Currently, Papila holds the position of Senior Vice President of Technology at tbi bank, starting in 2022.

Gurkan Papila holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electronics Engineering from Istanbul University. Gurkan also has a Master's degree in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from Marmara Üniversitesi. Additionally, Gurkan has obtained various certifications including the "ITIL® 4 Managing Professional Transition Certificate" from AXELOS Global Best Practice in 2021, and certifications in Digital Manufacturing and Design, Digital Product Management - Modern Fundamentals, AI For Everyone, and Elements of Artificial Intelligence, all obtained in 2019. Gurkan is also an ITIL EXPERT.
