Patrick Keys

EVP, Stakeholder Relations & General Counsel at TC Energy

As Executive Vice-President, Stakeholder Relations and General Counsel, Mr. Keys has overall responsibility for the management of the Company’s Legal, Internal Audit, Environment, Land, Indigenous Relations, Public Affairs, Communications and Community Engagement functions. He also serves as the Chief Compliance Officer and the Chief Sustainability Officer for the Company. Prior to this appointment, and as part of his transition into his current role, he held the position of Senior Vice-President, Legal.

Since joining the Company in 1998, Mr. Keys has held a variety of progressively senior roles within the organization. In his role as Vice-President, Canadian Gas Pipelines, he was accountable for the profitability and commercial management of the Company’s NGTL and Foothills Systems. Prior to this, he held the position of Vice-President, Pipelines, Law and Regulatory Research, with accountability for legal advice, research and analytical services on a broad array of oil pipeline, gas pipeline and power matters. Mr. Keys is a past President and Director of the Northwest Gas Association.

Mr. Keys obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Calgary and worked as a Professional Engineer in the oil and gas industry in various capacities. He later returned to the University of Calgary and earned a Bachelor of Laws degree. Following a clerkship with the Alberta Court of

Appeal, Mr. Keys pursued a general commercial litigation practice with a leading law firm in Calgary. He is a Professional Engineer with APEGA, and a member of the Law Society of Alberta.
