Valerie Hughes

Vice President - Events And Entertainment at Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG)

Valerie Hughes has extensive experience in event management and sports entertainment. Valerie started their career at the Canadian Soccer Association, where they worked as an Event Manager and later as a National Event Manager for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007. Valerie then joined Hockey Canada as the Manager of Event Services for the 2009 IIHF Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. Valerie then worked at Carleton University as an Adult Leagues and Facility Sales Officer, optimizing revenue through adult leagues and rental of athletic facilities. Valerie returned to Hockey Canada as the General Manager for the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship. Valerie also served as the Ottawa Venue General Manager for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 at the Canadian Soccer Association. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President - Events and Entertainment at the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG), where they have held various roles, including Director of Major Events and Director of Events and Production.

Valerie Hughes pursued their education in the field of sports. From 1992 to 1997, they attended Laurentian University/Université Laurentienne and obtained a Bachelor of Sport and Physical Education degree. Later, in 1997 and 1998, Valerie enrolled at the University of Ottawa and earned a Master of Arts degree in Human Kinetics with a specialization in Sport Administration.
