Teach For America
Shana L. is a dedicated student currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Child Studies and Multilingual Studies (TESOL) at Vanderbilt University, with minors in Data Science, Human Organizational Development (HOD), and Mental Health Sciences (MHS). Since August 2024, Shana has been involved with the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University as a Vanderbilt Undergraduate Summer Research Program Fellow and a Research Assistant in the Biggs Lab, focusing on enhancing literacy and communication for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Additionally, Shana volunteers as an English as a Second Language class participant and an after-school English program volunteer at the Nashville International Center for Empowerment. Other roles include a Research Assistant at the Stuttering Lab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, a student worker at the Susan Gray School, and an IGNITE Fellow with Teach For America, all contributing to a strong foundation in education and research.
