Pema Latshang has a diverse work experience in the education field. Pema started their career in 1999 as a Tutor/Classroom Aide in Chicago Public Schools. In 2003, they joined Teach For America as a Corp Member and served until 2005. Pema then joined the NYC Department of Education and held various roles including 5th, 6th, 7th Grade and Intervention Teacher, Academic Dean of Literacy, Achievement Coach/Education Administrator, and Borough Instructional Lead/Education Administrator. Pema also worked as the Director of Professional Learning and Educator Leadership at Holyoke Public Schools from an unknown date in 2015 until November 2016. Pema then became the Founding Executive Director at Teach Western Mass from December 2016 onwards. Additionally, Pema served as the Vice-President of Tashi Nyima Foundation Inc. from an unknown date in 2004.
Pema Latshang obtained a Bachelor's degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago in the period from 1999 to 2003. After that, from 2003 to 2005, Pema attended Pace University where they earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education-Teaching. Pema then pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Baruch College between 2007 and 2009.
