Advisory Board Member at Teaching for Change

Satara Charlson PhD, MSW is a seasoned academic in the field of social work, currently serving as a Professor at UMass Global since August 2018. In addition to this role, Satara is an Advisory Board Member for Teaching for Change since December 2020 and held the position of Bridging Differences in Higher Education Learning Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley from August 2023 to April 2024. Previous academic appointments include Professor and Founding MSW Program Director at California Baptist University, Associate Professor of Social Work at Indiana Wesleyan University, and various assistant professor roles at Northeastern State University and East Central University. Satara also led the Sociology & Social Work Programs at North Central Missouri College from 2004 to 2006. Academic credentials include a Master of Social Work from The University of Kansas, a Doctor of Philosophy from Capella University, and a degree in Psychology from Baker University.
