Elyse Petersen has a long and varied work experience. Elyse began their career in 2004 as a Quality Assurance worker for Fuji Food. In 2005, they became a Food Technologist for Penguin Natural Foods. In 2007, they volunteered for the United States Peace Corps. In 2008, they were a Quality Assurance Supervisor for Ito En (USA). In 2010, they became a Communications Officer for Team Hawaii 2011 and a Food Preservation Specialist Response Volunteer for the United States Peace Corps. In 2011, they volunteered for the International Tea Farms Alliance. In 2012, they became the Global Tea Ambassador for Obubu Tea Plantations and the Founder of Tealet.
Elyse Petersen obtained their MBA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Japan Focus in 2012. Prior to that, they earned their B.S. in Food Science and Technology from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona in 2006.
