Gordon Laurie has had a long and successful career in the scientific field. Gordon began their career in 1983 as a Visiting Associate and Postdoc at the National Institutes of Health, where they conducted research on interactions and expression of basement membrane proteins. In 1988, they joined the Department of Cell Biology at the University of Virginia as a Professor. Gordon also founded and served as the Director and Principal Investigator of the UVA Biotechnology Training Program. In 2013, they co-founded TearSolutions Inc. and served as the Chief Scientific Officer. Most recently, in 2021, they co-founded IsletRegen, LLC.
Gordon Laurie attended McMaster University from 1972 to 1976, where they earned a BSc in Biology. Gordon then attended McGill University from 1977 to 1982, where they earned both an MSc and a PhD in Cell Biology.
