Stavros Christodoulakis is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in the field of computer science and engineering. Currently serving as Professor Emeritus at the Technical University of Crete since December 1989, Stavros has held various leadership roles, including Director of the Laboratory of Distributed Multimedia Information Systems and Applications (MUSIC/TUC) from 1990 to 2015, and served on multiple scientific boards, including the Delos European Excellence Network on Digital Libraries and the National Documentation Center. Prior academic positions include faculty roles at the University of Waterloo, where Stavros progressed from Assistant Professor to Professor and held significant administrative responsibilities. Stavros holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, an MSc from Queen's University, and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon.
