Liza Sutherland has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Liza is currently the Head of Ecosystem at Techstart Ventures LLP, a seed stage venture capital investor in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Prior to this, Liza was an Entrepreneur In Residence for the AI & Blockchain Accelerator at Wayra UK. Liza also worked at the University of Edinburgh, where they held the positions of Senior Enterprise Executive and Enterprise Executive, helping students commercialize their research and ideas. Liza has also been a founder and CEO of MeVi, an entrepreneurial venture focused on audience engagement at live events. Liza has served as an Innovation Advisor at the Alba Innovation Centre and Interactive Scotland, providing strategic guidance to start-ups in the technology and digital media sectors. Liza has previous experience in the music industry, having co-founded and directed two companies, InterGroove US and Under Cover Music Group New York. Their roles included managing director and director, where they specialized in electronic dance music and oversaw the operation of multiple record labels.

Liza Sutherland began their education in 1990 at the University of Vermont, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology, completing their studies in 1994. In 1992, they also studied at Université Paris Sorbonne (Paris IV), focusing on Art, Architecture, and French for a year. Later, in 2002, Liza pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at The University of Edinburgh, which they completed in 2003, majoring in Business.
