Ian Poynter

Ian Poynter is an accomplished cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in leadership and mentorship roles. Currently serving as CEO and vCISO at Kalahari Security since September 2019, Ian also mentors startups in the Techstars Founder Catalyst program and contributes to the tech community as a Community Builder at TechYeet. As a Core Member of Underscore VC, Ian supports early-stage entrepreneurs, while also acting as a Network Advisor for TEDCO to enhance Maryland’s technology ecosystem. Previous roles include Chapter President of the ISC2 Charleston Chapter and Chief Information Security Officer at Catalytic Data Science. Ian holds a BSc in Computer Science from UCL and has actively mentored in various programs to foster talent in cybersecurity.
