Carleigh Whitman is an experienced professional in environmental management and government relations, currently serving as the Head of Nature and Closure at Teck Resources Limited since July 2010. In this role, Carleigh oversees nature, biodiversity, and mine closure for Teck's global portfolio. Previous positions at Teck include Director of Environment, where Carleigh managed biodiversity, closure, and regulatory approvals, and General Manager of Environment and Social Responsibility, focusing on environmental policies and permitting within the steelmaking coal business. Carleigh also held the position of Director of Government Relations, developing strategies to enhance government relations in alignment with corporate objectives. Prior to Teck, Carleigh practiced law at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP from 2003 to July 2010. Carleigh holds an LLB from The University of British Columbia (UBC) and a B.Sc. in Conservation Biology from UBC.
