David Garza Rector and Executive President . He is a Computer Systems Engineer from Tec de Monterrey , and a Doctor in Computational Sciences from Colorado State University.
He has a career of more than 30 years at the Tecnológico de Monterrey where he has held various academic and managerial positions, such as Research and Postgraduate director; Dean of Information and Electronic Technologies, and of the School of Engineering of the Monterrey campus.
He was general director of the San Luis Potosí campus, rector of the Monterrey Metropolitan Area and vice-rector of Professional, a position from which he led key academic initiatives related to improving the quality of students, teachers and the development of the Tec21 Educational Model , Later, he was appointed Academic Vice-Rector of the institution.
Since July 1, 2017, he is Rector of the Tecnológico de Monterrey , a private non-profit university that is part of the 35 best private universities in the world according to the prestigious English QS ranking, with 31 campuses in Mexico and presence in 13 countries around the world , almost 90 thousand students and more than 10 thousand teachers.
He has been a research professor at the Center for Research in Informatics, teaching courses in disciplines related to information technology and electronics, both professionally, as well as a master's and doctoral degree. As a researcher, he participated in the definition and development of projects funded by prestigious national and international institutions, such as: United States Agency for International Development, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, Agency for Advanced Research Projects, European Commission and National Council of Science and Technology, CONACYT. Some of his research projects have been carried out in collaboration with international institutions such as: Virginia Tech, Southwest Research Institute and Colorado State University. He is the author of multiple articles and has worked as a consultant on various business projects. He twice received the Distinguished Teacher Award.
He was President of the World Council of Engineering Deans (GEDC), an initiative created with the support of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and the International Federation of Engineering Education Associations. In 2012 he received an Honoris Causa Doctorate from the American University of Nicaragua. He is a member of professional associations and organizations such as: ASEE, IEEE, ACM, Sigma Xi and Phi Kappa Phi.
He has participated in state, national and international conference committees and councils of various business and academic organizations, and has been invited as a speaker / panelist at international events in more than 15 countries.
He is married to Claudia García Valadez and they have four children: Claudia Marcela, Alejandro Daniel, Andrés Fernando and Sara Elisa.
