Efren Afante

Efren Afante is a seasoned meteorologist currently serving as Chief Meteorologist at WLTX News19, a TEGNA Company television station in Columbia, SC since 2015. With prior experience as a Broadcast Meteorologist at WJTV News Channel 12 in Jackson, MS, from 2013 to 2015, and an extensive academic background, including a Bachelor of Science in Geography and a minor in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma, Efren has developed a strong foundation in meteorological research and broadcasting. Previous roles include serving as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies and various internships that involved active participation in severe weather forecasting.
