Mark Carlin has over 35 years of work experience in various roles related to sales and marketing. Mark started their career at Control Data as a Sales Support Engineer in 1984, then moved to GE Calma as a Sales Support Engineer in 1986. After that, they worked at Hewlett-Packard as a Major Account Sales representative from 1986 to 1993.
In 1993, Carlin joined PADS Software as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where they were responsible for worldwide sales and marketing, manufacturing, and customer support. During their tenure, they successfully redirected the company into the high-end market segment and grew revenues to over $15 million in three years. Carlin personally negotiated all international and domestic reseller and distributor contracts to increase sales volume.
In 1996, Carlin became the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at AccuSoft Corporation. Mark coached, directed, and led the sales and marketing organizations targeting various market segments, including Internet, Medical, Photo, Banking, and Document Imaging. Carlin grew revenues to $4 million in three years by building the company's sales channel and leveraging its core competencies in horizontal and vertical market segments. The company was eventually sold to Pegasus Software.
Carlin then joined Quadrant Software in 1999 as the Director of Marketing and Channels. Mark was responsible for directing all of the company's marketing and indirect sales efforts. Carlin managed over 200 VAR and Reseller relationships in five countries and established the marketing and channel group, including various roles such as Marketing Communications Manager, PR Specialist, Marketing Specialist, WebMaster, Product Manager, Database Administrator, and Business Development Manager.
Finally, Carlin worked at TeleMessage as the VP of Sales and Business Development from 2001 onwards, where they were responsible for the startup and growth of the North and South American markets. Mark established the US operations and formulated various strategies for penetrating the markets, including sales and marketing plans. Carlin successfully established business contracts with major US carriers such as T-Mobile (Sprint), Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and US Cellular.
Mark Carlin obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, completing their studies from 1979 to 1983. Mark then pursued further education at the same university and received another Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, this time in Computer Systems Engineering, from 1983 to 1984. After that, Mark went on to complete a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Marketing at Rivier University, where they attended from 1987 to 1990.
