David Wendling

Chief Technical Officer at Telesat

Dave Wendling is Telesat’s Chief Technical Officer. He joined Telesat in 1986 and has held positions of increasing responsibility within the Space and Network Engineering Department. He is responsible for the design, procurement, and operations of Telesat’s satellite fleet, Engineering, IT and the provision of Telesat’s Consulting services.

Mr. Wendling led the successful integration of satellite operations and Corporate IT when Telesat merged with Loral Skynet in 2007. His group has also developed innovative satellite designs including an effective way to meet the Government of Canada’s needs for communication services in the Far North. Mr. Wendling previously served as Director of the Satellite Control Division, where he was responsible for operating Telesat satellites and provisioning the satellite control ground segment.

Mr. Wendling has over 26 years of experience in the satellite industry, including such areas as launch vehicles, satellite design, satellite operations and communications/ground systems engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Waterloo and is registered as a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
