Alp Oral

Alp Oral has an extensive work experience in the technology industry. Alp is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Telescope Labs, where they are responsible for leading the development of an end-to-end web3 game analytics platform. This platform aims to provide game developers with valuable insights on player behavior, retention, monetization, and in-game economy.

Before joining Telescope Labs, Alp Oral was a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft from March 2022 to February 2023. Alp also held the position of Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft from October 2018 to March 2022, where they led the development of community-related UI components for Microsoft News canvases and worked on internal tools for the Microsoft News organization.

Prior to their time at Microsoft, Alp Oral worked as a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) from November 2017 to October 2018. Alp was part of the capacity planning organization, focusing on EC2 fleet backend systems, supply optimization, demand forecasting, and operational excellence.

Alp Oral started their career at TUBITAK as a Research Advisor in July 2015 before moving on to become a Software Development Engineer at Microsoft in December 2015. In this role, they worked on a large news website's backend framework, serving over 1 billion daily page views and 450 million monthly users across multiple platforms.

Previously, Alp Oral co-founded TravelAps in July 2013 and served as the Lead Software Developer. Alp played a significant role in building an end-to-end multi-tenant cloud-based travel portal solution from scratch within a few months. This solution offered dynamic packaging options for customers, allowing them to sell hotel, flight, transfer, and tour services from various worldwide XML operators.

Earlier in their career, Alp Oral worked as a Mobile & Web Application Developer at Mobassist from June 2010 to June 2012. Alp developed Turkey's first location-based discovery engine (Gezara) and modeled and built the client-side of the Crowzy Chat application for mobile and PC versions.

Alp Oral's first job was as an Application Developer at Talya Bilişim from June 2007 to September 2010. Alp developed and maintained various web-based products for different sectors, including an employee performance management system, web-based hotel agency, and customer ticket system.

Overall, with their extensive experience in software engineering and development, Alp Oral has made significant contributions to various organizations, ranging from startups to multinational companies.

Alp Oral completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Engineering at Bilkent University from 2008 to 2012. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science at the same university from 2012 to 2015. In 2015, they began their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Information Technology at Wageningen University & Research, which is ongoing.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Alp Oral has obtained several certifications. In 2015, they acquired the certifications of "ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System Applied Awareness" and "ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System Internal Auditor" from SGS. Alp also obtained the certification of "ISO 31000:2009 Enterprise Risk Management Awareness" from SGS in the same year. More recently, in December 2020, they completed a certification course titled "Developing a YouTube Strategy" at LinkedIn.
