Bill Louden AM has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Bill currently serves as the Chairperson of the Australian Council for Educational Research since 2020.
Prior to this, they held various positions at The University of Western Australia, including Emeritus Professor, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and Dean of the Graduate School of Education. Bill was with the university from 2006 until 2014.
Louden also served as a Trustee for the Fogarty Foundation from 2013 onwards. Additionally, they held roles at the Telethon Kids Institute, where they were an Honorary Distinguished Research Associate and Chair of the CoLab Advisory Council.
Other notable roles include Chair of the Governing Council at North Metropolitan TAFE from 2015 until 2022, and membership on the Board of Brightwater Care Group Inc. from 2012 to 2017.
Louden's expertise in education also extended to organizations such as the Australian Institute for Teaching & School Leadership, where they served as Deputy Chair from 2010 to 2014, and the Australian Curriculum, Assessment, and Reporting Authority, where they were a board member from 2008 to 2012.
Before their time at The University of Western Australia, Louden was the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Executive Dean at Edith Cowan University from 2003 to 2006.
Bill Louden AM completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) at The University of Western Australia from 1970 to 1975. Bill then pursued a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) at Murdoch University from 1981 to 1983. Following this, they obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Murdoch University, completing their degree from 1984 to 1987. Bill Louden AM furthered their education by attaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Toronto, which they finished between 1987 and 1989.
