Kak Ming Ling has a variety of work experience in the research field. Kak Ming is currently an Adjunct Research Fellow at Curtin University and an Honorary Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia. Kak Ming also holds the position of Research Officer at the Telethon Kids Institute. At the Institute, their work involves studying respiratory health for children and airway epithelial research, focusing on cell biology, molecular biology, virology, and bioinformatics. Kak Ming Ling has been with the Telethon Kids Institute since September 2021 and has previously held the role of Research Assistant since June 2008. In this role, they have been involved in various studies related to pediatric asthma, lung transplant cohorts, and human rhinovirus propagation. Kak Ming has also been responsible for laboratory management, including equipment and reagents ordering, maintenance, and maintaining laboratory quality assurance and safety standards. Kak Ming Ling completed their PhD at The University of Western Australia, where their research focused on the innate immune response of airway epithelial cells in children with cystic fibrosis to rhinovirus infection. Prior to this, they worked as a Laboratory Assistant at Curtin University and as a Trainee at Gribbles Pathology (M) Sdn Bhd.

Kak Ming Ling pursued their education, starting from 2004 to 2007, at The University of Western Australia. During this time, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biomedical Science. Following this, they continued their academic journey at the same university from 2007 to 2008, where they attained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Pharmacology.
