Minda Sarna (Mohinder)

Senior Research Officer at Telethon Kids Institute

Minda (Mohinder) Sarna has a diverse work experience in the field of epidemiology and research. They are currently working as a Senior Research Officer at the Telethon Kids Institute since 2022. Previously, they were associated with Curtin University where they served as a Guest Lecturer from October 2019 to December 2021 and as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow from June 2018 to December 2021. During their time at Curtin University, they focused on studying the safety and effectiveness of vaccines during pregnancy through the 'Links2HealthierBubs' study.

Prior to Curtin University, Minda worked as the ORChID Study Coordinator at the Queensland Children's Medical Research Institute from March 2013 to December 2014. They also worked as an Epidemiologist at Queensland University of Technology from March 2012 to February 2013. Before that, they worked as an Epidemiologist at the Communicable Diseasses Branch, Queensland Health from 2010 to 2011 and at the Communicable Disease Control Directorate, WA Health from 2002 to 2008.

Minda (Mohinder) Sarna has a strong educational background with degrees obtained in various fields. In 1986, Sarna enrolled at The University of Western Australia and completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biochemistry/Microbiology in 1990. Following this, Sarna pursued further studies at The Australian National University from 2000 to 2002, obtaining a Master of Applied Epidemiology with a focus on Infectious Diseases. In 2014, Sarna commenced a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at The University of Queensland, specializing in Paediatric respiratory infections. Alongside these academic achievements, Sarna also holds a Basic First Aid Certificate from St Johns.
