Tae Won Chung

Research Associate at Tenaya Therapeutics

Tae Won Chung has a diverse background in research and scientific roles. Tae Won started their career at the Bionanomaterials Lab at UC Berkeley in 2014, where they worked as a Research Assistant, focusing on expressing engineered elastin-like polypeptides for the synthesis of highly elastic hydrogels. Tae Won then joined the Republic of Korea Army as an English Language Interpreter/Translator from 2015 to 2016. In 2017, they had two concurrent positions as a Research Fellow at Green Cross Biotherapeutics Inc. and as a Graduate Student Researcher in the Irina Conboy Lab at the University of California, Berkeley. In their role as a Research Fellow, they contributed to the development of novel biomarkers for pluripotent stem cells. In their role as a Graduate Student Researcher, Tae Won harvested and expanded primary cells, including adult stem cells, from mice and conducted various experiments to investigate wound healing and regeneration. In 2018, they joined Boehringer Ingelheim as a Process Scientist I, contributing to the development of new processes and technologies. Currently, they are working at Tenaya Therapeutics as a Research Associate, where they are involved in cutting-edge research projects.

Tae Won Chung pursued their education at the University of California, Berkeley. From 2010 to 2014, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering. Later, in 2017, they furthered their studies at the same university and obtained a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Bioengineering in 2018.
