Michele Thoman has extensive work experience in healthcare, holding various leadership roles in different organizations. Starting in 1990, they worked as an Assistant Clinical Manager/RN at Akron General Medical Center. Michele then moved on to Lakewood Hospital, where they served as a Nurse Manager and later as the Chief Nursing Officer/VP of Patient Care Services. During their time at Lakewood Hospital, they implemented initiatives to improve patient care delivery and reduce turnover rates.

In 2010, Thoman joined NCH Healthcare System as the System Chief Nursing Officer/COO of North Naples Hospital. Michele successfully managed operational responsibilities for a 325-bed hospital and oversaw nursing services for a 715-bed hospital system. Michele also spearheaded revenue increases for the hospital net income.

Thoman later joined Tenet Healthcare, where they held the roles of Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Michele successfully managed the transition from Tenet Healthcare to Steward Healthcare, ensuring the maintenance of hospital admission, ED, and operating room volumes, as well as physician relationships and regulatory compliance. Michele also oversaw the cutover of financial systems without any patient safety incidents or revenue loss.

Michele then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at The University of Akron from 1991 to 1999. Later, they expanded their knowledge and skills by completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Baldwin Wallace University from 2000 to 2002, specializing in the field of business.
