Shawn Schemmel has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Shawn started their career as an Electronic Technician at Automatic Products in 2003, where they built, tested, and repaired test fixtures. Shawn then worked at Goodrich Sensor Systems as a Manufacturing Technician III, utilizing their technical expertise in troubleshooting and calibration of hardware. Shawn also designed and installed Laptop Docking Stations on commercial airlines and utilized ground-based security products. In 2004, Shawn joined UTC Aerospace Systems as an Electrical Engineer II, where they performed on-site customer installations and root cause analysis for field failures. Shawn also managed obsolescence and design solutions for components. Shawn then worked at Ingersoll Rand and Trane Technologies as a Lead Engineer, responsible for developing critical controls hardware and components. Shawn managed cross-functional teams globally and ensured project milestones were achieved. In 2023, Shawn joined Thermo King as an Engineering Manager, leading the development of controls hardware and mechatronics. Currently, they are working at Tennant Company as the Principal Machine Integration Lead in the Global Platform Development team.

Shawn Schemmel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Minnesota State University, Mankato from 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, they attended South Dakota State University from 1997 to 1998, where they pursued studies in Electrical Engineering. Shawn's education also includes attending Pipestone/Jasper from 1994 to 1997, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned. Additionally, they obtained certifications such as IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) in August 2017 and IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) from EPTAC Corporation in September 2010.
