Alongside their medical practice, Dr. Gray has also served as an Advisory Board Member at the Tickle College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee since 2014.

James R. Gray, MD, obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1986. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biomedical Engineering (Engineering Science and Mechanics) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, from 1978 to 1982. James R. received their High School Diploma from Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, TN, in 1978. In addition to their medical education, Dr. Gray also holds a certification in Radiation Oncology from the American Board of Radiology, obtained in 1991.
