Desiree Van Haute, PhD

Desiree Van Haute, PhD has worked in a variety of roles since 2005. Desiree began their career as an Auxiliary Youth Volunteer at Northside Hospital in 2005. In 2006, they became a Sales Associate at Staples, Inc. In 2008, they took on the role of Lab Assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they worked under the advisement of Dr. Mostafa A. El-Sayed. In 2010, they were a Summer Fellow at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. From 2011 to 2016, they were a Doctoral Student and Post Doctoral Fellow at City of Hope. In 2016, they became a Commissioner's Fellow at the FDA, where they developed analytical methods to characterize the size distribution of liposomes and methods to quantify both the concentration of excipients and the API in approved liposomal products. In 2018, they were a Senior Scientist II at HBT LABS INC. Most recently, they have been the Manager of Lab Operations and a Scientist at Terray Therapeutics since 2019.

Desiree Van Haute, PhD, began their education in 2003 at Cherokee High School, followed by a year at Kennesaw State University in 2006-2007. Desiree then attended the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2007-2011, where they earned a BS in Biomedical Engineering. During 2009-2010, they attended the Instituto de Tecnológico y Estudios Superiores de Monterrey for Biomedical Engineering and Spanish. From 2011-2016, they attended the Irell & Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological Sciences and Nanomedicine. In 2014-2015, they attended the Keck Graduate Institute for a Certification in Bioscience Management.
