Matthew Barnes

Matthew joined Tesco as UK CEO in March 2024 and is responsible for managing all of Tesco’s businesses in the UK.

Matthew has extensive experience in global food retail, having spent 27 years at Aldi including leadership positions in Australia and the UK & Republic of Ireland. In addition to his leadership positions, Matthew has hands on experience in retail from his time as an Area Manager for Aldi as well as a deep understanding of product from managing several international buying teams.

Matthew joined the Executive Committee in March 2024.
